Double encryption

Your data is scrambled twice—we can't even see who you are

We use two layers of encryption. The first scrambles your data. The second scrambles your identity. Even our own engineers see only random characters when they look at the database—they can't tell whose data is whose.

Read-only by design

There's no 'move money' button for anyone to abuse

Pearl's connection to your accounts can only read. It cannot move money, trade, or pay bills—for you, for us, or for an attacker. The capability simply doesn't exist in the product.

24/7 monitoring

We watch for anything suspicious

Our systems automatically detect unusual activity. If something looks wrong, we investigate right away.

Regular backups

Your data is saved in multiple places

Even if something catastrophic happened to our main systems, your information is safely backed up and can be restored.

BANK CONNECTION

How you connect your bank

We use a company called Plaid. They're the same ones Venmo, Robinhood, and thousands of other apps use. Here's how it works:

You log in to your bank

When you connect an account, you're typing your password into your bank's system—not ours. We never see it.

Your bank gives us a read-only key

Your bank creates a special key that lets Pearl see your transactions and balances. That's all it can do—read. We encrypt that key with AWS KMS before storing it.

Claude gets grounded answers

When you ask Claude about your money, Pearl computes the answer from your real data and hands it over—with a note about what data it used and how fresh it was.

You can cut us off anytime

If you ever want to disconnect, just tap a button. The key gets destroyed and we immediately lose all access.

Plaid connects over 10,000 banks and powers apps you probably already use.

“I'm handing an AI my finances. What's the worst that could happen?”

Pearl's access to your accounts is read-only. It cannot move money, send money, trade, make purchases, or withdraw cash. That capability doesn't exist.

The only things Pearl can change are your plan—goals, budgets, transaction categories—and only when you ask.

So even if someone somehow got into your Pearl account, they could look at numbers and rename a budget. Annoying, but your money is untouchable through Pearl.

And you can disconnect any bank with one tap. Access ends immediately.

Remove any linked account instantly. We lose access immediately.

Disconnect Claude

Remove the Pearl connector from Claude anytime. Conversations stop seeing your data instantly.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

What if Pearl shuts down?
If we ever close, we'll give you at least 60 days to download your data. Then we delete everything—we don't sell it to anyone. This is a legal promise in our terms of service.
Can your employees see my bank accounts?
No. We use a special encryption system (AWS KMS) that scrambles your identity at the database level. When our engineers look at our systems, they see encrypted gibberish—they literally cannot tell whose data is whose or connect any information to a real person. Your identity is invisible even to us.
Do you sell my data to advertisers?
No. Never. We make money one way: your subscription. That's it. We have zero reason to sell your information because our business only works if you trust us.
What if Plaid (the bank connector) gets hacked?
Plaid doesn't actually store your bank password—they use a special token system. So even if Plaid was breached, your login credentials wouldn't be exposed. And you can always disconnect through plaid.com/me if you're worried.
Is my data used to train AI?
No. We never train AI models on your personal financial data, and the AI providers we work with process it under API terms that prohibit training on it. Your data is used for one thing: answering your questions.
How do I know you're telling the truth?
Fair question. Ask us anything specific—email pearl@pearltech.xyz and a human will answer within 24 hours. Our privacy policy and terms are written in plain language and legally bind us to everything on this page.
What can Pearl actually do with my money?
Read it and do math on it. Pearl computes your net worth, runway, safe-to-spend, debt payoff plans, and projections from your real transactions. The only things it can change are your plan—goals, budgets, categories—when you ask. It can NEVER move money, trade, pay bills, or touch your accounts.
